There are times in my life when I know it’s time for change. It comes gradually and I wonder how could this new idea ever be possible? But then you dream about it, you think about it and sometimes it doesn’t seem possible or even rational. Even so, you explore possibilities only to have doors close and then one day it just happens, the pieces start to fall into place. You’re not sure you should trust it and yet you know deep down that anything is possible and you just follow the leads and do the work to make it happen.
You have to be open because it is almost never what you expected or thought might be a rational answer to your dream. Easy, no, possible and doable if you are willing to put in the work, yes. And that is where I am right now.
I am moving to Oregon. I am going in search of a larger culturally diverse community where there are more opportunities for me to share my passion for the arts, both making it and teaching it. I am in the early stages of this adventure and leaving next week on an exploratory trip to the great Northwest and I am very excited about it.
You see I have never been to Oregon and yet the more I know about it the more I believe I need to be part of it. I do have family and friends there, so that makes it a little easier. Having lived in San Francisco and Long Beach and now the Mojave Desert, I know what it’s like to live in a city, and a small town. I also know a variety of weather having lived in the desert, at the beach, and on the Bay. I am looking forward to being near Portland and near the forest and the beach. It will be different and I am looking for a new environment to inspire me in my creativity. As many of you have followed me for many years through all of the adventures I have traveled, I hope you will continue to follow to see what happens next. I want to bring you along with me via a travelogue/ blog as I discover a whole new world.
I am leaving Ridgecrest on July 23rd taking my dogs, my art supplies, my camera and my curiosity and I will keep you posted!
Just in case you were wondering, I will continue teaching online art classes as soon as I can.
On to the next adventure!
