Pieces of the puzzle are coming together. Not as I expected, but none the less filling my needs and moving me forward. I get stressed when things don’t happen or happen slowly and the movies in my head of past bad experiences start to replay and I really need to just send them packing and do some breathing and think clearly. I need to change my scripting.
I read a great blog the other day called “Here We Go Again” from one of my favorite writers, Seth Godin. His insights, and forward thinking have been very instrumental in my views of being a productive creator and entrepreneur. I highly recommend his books, his podcasts, and his daily blog.
Anyway this blog was about the scripts we use to help us cope with change. Do we get defensive and fearful when something new comes to us or do we get curious and open to seeing the possibilities of it? Do we just back away or do we explore it before we make a decision on whether it will be a benefit or not for us? And is our approach working? Does it help or hinder us from moving forward? Seth suggests that we can change our scripts. If the way we approach new things is not helping us meet our goals we can change them, we can rewrite the script and we can then rewrite the outcome of how we deal with change as well.
Change is coming to each of us everyday whether we like it or not so it makes sense to me that if I can find ways to make it work in my favor or my loved ones favor, that would be a better plan than fighting the change and having the outcome be less than desirable.
So that is my positive thoughts for today!

As far as what else is happening this week. I have been making progress on getting connected with the sites I need to to promote my illustration/graphics work and I have been really enjoying going through all the Adobe Illustrator tutorials. I decided to start from the beginning because there have been a lot of changes to the program and I know if I just try to go at it the way I used to work on it I will just get frustrated. See a re-scripting for me! Anyway it has been fun doing simple projects like the cats above. Although I miss the feel of the paper and the process of creating art in the traditional way, I really do enjoy graphic illustration and design too. It is important for me to do both everyday because each one is giving me things I need.
What am I doing for enjoyment besides art? Seeing friends, making bread, watering my plants. My friend Laura who kept my plants for me brought them back and it makes me so happy to see them every day. It was not my intention to get them back from her, however I really really appreciate having them here with me in this very brown environment.
I do have many more steps to go for this new life I am planning. It’s the end of January, and I’m not there yet! I knew it would take more time, I just get impatient.
One of the illustration jobs I looked at today was an illustrator to do bright colorful Jungle animal illustrations in a digital format, so that is my project today. Not to apply yet, just to figure out the process and make at least one animal. I am thinking I will start with a lion. I will keep you posted!
Have a Happy Day!
Cheryl
