I think We Need a Celebration. Are You Ready?

We have been in a pandemic state of mind for almost 2 years now. The feelings of uncertainty and fear have invaded every part of our lives.

I am not alone in thinking that it is time for us to find a sense of normalcy and get back to a sense of joy about life.

I am not saying we can get back to life as we knew it in 2019 ( I did not like that year anyway to much earth-shaking and quaking for me!) I don’t think our lives will ever be the same as they were before the pandemic, however, we now have tools to help us live with this virus. Vaccinations, medications that help avoid a less deadly outcome with the virus, and things like masks, vitamins and lifestyles that support a healthier way of living are also things we have embraced in the last 2 years. Pretty sure I will be wearing masks at least through the winter. Not only do I not want Covid, I also don’t want colds or flu either. Makes sense to me!

So with all that we have learned, I am thinking maybe it is time for us to get back to joy and celebrating the good in our lives and celebrating each other for all we have lived through and celebrating those we have lost along the way by keeping them in our memories.

I worked a full week on my new schedule and was really tired by the end of Saturday. I was really happy for Sunday and Monday off and I have made the most of these 2 days. A lovely walk in the forest with the dogs. A trip to the art supply store and lunch out at a yummy Detroit style pizza restaurant, this is definitely on my list of recipes to figure out. More Pizza! Yeah! They had outside seating and it was nice enough to be outside. Then today I have spent the whole day working on holiday cards for a client and this new holiday card that I can share with you. If you would like to know more about ordering some here is a link to my Etsy Page

This card, “Penguin Holidays” just makes me giggle. This painting was one that was one of our happy hour watercolor classes. We all looked at Google images of penguins before we painted to get an idea of what baby penguins really looked like and then we all did our own version and this one was mine. Everyone had different poses, and different styles of painting. Each creating their very own art. I love when that happens! Here are a couple of my students paintings as well. Aren’t they great?

More good news this week…

I finally got new business cards- professional business cards, not self printed business cards and I totally LOVE them. If you need new cards and you want to work with an amazing company that is really fun and creates amazing things, I recommend MOO.com
Everything about this company is fun and helps create joy. I ordered 200 business cards and was able to customize each one if I wanted. I chose to use 5 different paintings of mine for the back side of the cards which gives me 40 cards of each painting. All of them have the same front with my contact information. They are high quality printing on fine card stock. I am very impressed and very happy. Plus the packaging was high quality and there was fun messaging on everything. It was a very fun package to open.
So when something this nice makes me happy, I just want to share it.

Maybe spreading joy in the way that Moo does, is something we can take note of and do more of this ourselves. These cards weren’t free, however they were reasonably priced and they made me feel extra special. This is always the best way to make happy customers and I do my best to do the same. Why not create joy and give people something that makes them happy and get paid a fair wage for doing it. It’s a win/win!

Ok I am off to make dinner, I found a recipe for Delicata Squash and Pork Chops I want to try. If it turns out I will let you know.

Have a happy day

Thank you for taking a little time to get to know me. Making art has been my life, I love to tell stories through words and pictures. I am a multi-media artist working in photography, watercolor, various drawing media, and sometimes digital art.

  1. I totally love the penguins, too! And, wow, those are cool business cards. I really agree on the joy, as well, and plan to make this holiday season as jpyful as I can!
