Mystic Dreams is Now a Reality

Today I want to do a little self promotion.

There are so many wonderful things developing in my world, so I thought I would just share a little good news today….

First off, the show Mystic Dreams of Transformation has a little over a month left at the museum, till the end of May, just in case you wanted to see it in person. It is at Maturango Museum, 100 E. Las Flores, Ridgecrest, CA 93555.

It has gotten a very good reception with articles written about it and me in 2 of the local papers. Here are a couple of links if you want to read about it, The Daily Independent and The News Review. It has been a dream come true to get this art out in public and share the art and poetry together is very special.

I have gotten the book of poetry and art published as well, and you can now order a copy on my website. I have created an online version that you can view before you buy where you can see the art and the poetry. I got this quote from a friend who ordered the book. So appreciated!

“The book is amazing!  I read it online before ordering but it feels so different to hold it.  So much to think about when reading your poems.  You do have a way with words!”

Vicki A.

A portion of the money from the book goes to support this multifunction museum which is the only real art venue in our community along with being a tourism center for Death Valley and a Natural History Museum for the area. They have an extensive collection of artifacts and also are a teaching center. Small communities have to manage a lot with their limited resources. And they do an amazing job.

In conjunction with this exhibit I am also teaching two classes that are about exploring and using your intuition, imagination, and your dreams to create art.

The first class is Wine and Watercolor, April 26th and being held at the Museum. In this class we will explore what I call the inner landscape, which is basically painting in an abstract way which often resembles places you have been. It is a way of creating from your memories in a fun and relaxed atmosphere and a way to play with watercolor in a non-threatening way. It is open to painters and non-painters alike. No experience needed. You can sign up at the Museum 760-375-6900.

The second class is Drawing from Your Dreams. In this class we are going to do some exercises to develop visualization techniques that you can use to capture images from your dreams, daydreams, or your imagination. A sample dream journal will be provided to help you capture the verbal/textual clues and space for sketching images so they don’t get lost. We will talk about how to further develop these images by brainstorming ideas for how best you might want to create them at a later time. This is a class for beginning artists too and also for those who might want to delve further into their dreams or imagination. FYI I do not do dream interpretation, that is a whole other thing. I personally believe that our dreams are so full of our own symbology, it is best for us to do our own interpretations. Keeping a dream journal can assist with that. This class will be May 24th and will also be at the museum. You can sign up at the same number above.

Both classes are designed to be fun and stress free experiences. There will be wine and nonalcoholic beverages and appetizers too. Plus all materials will be provided so you can just come and have a fun experience.

I am also busy learning some new Photoshop techniques. I have so many ideas for composite art pieces using my photography and maybe blending that with my drawings or paintings. A friend sent me a link to a Photoshop Creativity workshop this week and so I have been binge watching classes and taking notes. My brain is pretty full and it will take some practice. I have done some of this kind of thing before, and all the things I am learning will make it easier and my work will be better for it. I am always open to learning new tools. Creativity is always about expansion and breaking barriers to learn and create new things. Life is never boring.

I hope there are many good things going on in your life as well these days. I spend time writing some of the down every day. It helps me remember that the chaos in the world isn’t all there is. 🙂

Have a Happy Day!

Cheryl

Thank you for taking a little time to get to know me. Making art has been my life, I love to tell stories through words and pictures. I am a multi-media artist working in photography, watercolor, various drawing media, and sometimes digital art.
